It Was A Three Dog Night - Nassau Coliseum's First Live Concert

Good morning. Today, April 29, 1972, the brand new state of the art Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York hosted its first concert. Three Dog Night, the band who had more hits than any other group between 1969-1974 headlined the evening. A crowd of 16,500 saw the band perform their trademark hits including " Joy To The World" and "Mama Told Me Not To Come". I do not recall any awareness of this event but having just turned 12, my Mama would have told me not to go.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAYS: Willie Nelson, musician, 91.UK

Tommy James, singer, Tommy James and the Shondells, 77.

Eve Plumb, aka Jan Brady on the Brady bunch and inspiration to the Punk Band, the Eve Plumbs, 66.

Carnie Wilson, singer, Wilson Phillips, and daughter of Brian Wilson, 56.

Mike Hogan, guitarist, the Cranberries, 51.

Finally, the Beatles once again made the news as Taylor Swift's latest double album " The Tortured Poets Department" reached number 1 in the UK and she passed the Beatles as fastest artist to 12 number one albums. But the Beatles did it in only 8 years.
